IABR-2016-

In 2016 IABR takes place on Katendrecht. When visiting IABR–2016 you're advised to take the opportunity to experience 'de Kaap' –the Cape– firsthand and explore how in this part of Rotterdam an urban community is burgeoning thanks to many local initiatives, an open culture and inclusive thinking.

During the biennale open tours are offered every Saturday and Sunday. Together with a professional guide you will visit Deliplein and the Kaapschip, but also hidden yards and backstreets. Katendrecht boasts a striking number of local, often small-scale initiatives by inhabitants, entrepeneurs, investors and place-makers exploring the future of the area. With housing, with schools, with public spaces. With new, renovated and in-transition-architecture. With production, with consumption. With old and new manufacturing, old and new bars. And with ups and downs. Anyone strolling around, picking up conversations with Katendrechters and taking a real close look may just catch a glimpse of the Next Economy.
