WATERSCHOOL M4H+ : SILENT MESSENGERS
With their kite installation Silent Messengers, designers Maarten Kolk and Guus Kusters (MKGK) show the silent decline of an almost magical phenomenon: the migration of geese. They use kites that appear to be attached to land to draw attention to the ever-increasing tension between the natural world and the cultivated land.
Having opened at the Oerol Festival Terschelling in 2019, the installation will now premiere on the Dutch mainland in the context of DOWN TO EARTH.
The program starts at 1:30 p.m. at Studio Makkink & Bey. Cocurators Rianne Makkink and Jurgen Bey will first guide visitors through the WATERSCHOOL M4H+ exhibition, explaining the exhibited works by designers, artists and architects and going into the origins of and the vision behind the Waterschool. Next everyone will walk to WATERSCHOOL M4H+ plot 004, Wood (Marconistraat 77), where Silent Messengers will have been launched and MKGK will provide background about their work. The installation will remain airborne until about 5 p.m. Refreshments will be provided!
