The Decarbonising Futures workshop hosted by the Lorentz Centre brings together an international community of scholars and practitioners in order to activate a new conversation about the potential and limitations of existing ways of narrating our low carbon society – from modelling to scenarios, cultural interventions to urban experiments.
At IABR–2016, Decarbonising Futures will explore how different futures of the ‘next economy’ are being exhibited and the ways in which these can contribute to a new imagination of the low carbon society. Participants will engage in a series of public conversations with IABR–2016 chief curator Maarten Hajer about their experiences of what a low carbon society needs to entail, the challenges and questions it raises for us, and how it could be imagined and designed differently.
