Resilient Rotterdam

On Thursday May 19th, Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb will inaugurate the launch of the first Resilience Strategy of Rotterdam. A milestone as well as the beginning of the next phase of making Rotterdam a more resilient city. Rotterdam is a member of the 100 Resilient Cities Program of the Rockefeller Foundation and is developing new policy on resilience, in close collaboration with cities worldwide.

Moderated by Paula Verhoeven (Director Urban Development Rotterdam) the program includes mayor Aboutaleb, Michael Berkowitz (President 100 Resilient Cities), Arnoud Molenaar (Chief Resilience Officer Rotterdam) and George Brugmans (President IABR).

Working Sessions
In the second part of the morning, four working sessions focus on the question: What’s Next? What are the next steps in making Rotterdam a more resilient city?

The themes of the four sessions are:
- Social Resilience: comparing Paris and Rotterdam
- Water Safety and Cyber Resilience
- Resilience and Private Partners
- Resilience by Design (together with IABR)
